With an objective to illuminate 3D relationships for particular anatomy, I decided to sculpt the atlantoaxial joint – a region that we spent only a small amount of time on in anatomy that I wanted to improve my understanding of.
Before the sculpting began, I first pitched thumbnails.
Sculpting from CT data
I used CT data of the head and neck to isolate the cervical vertebrae into separate subtools which I polished, retopologized, and polypainted.
Vertebral arteries and spinal nerves were created using CurveTubes and Dynameshing.
