This infographic gives a glimpse through data into the life of a child with peanut allergies and how they navigate through their social and school interactions. Food allergies can create an isolated experience for children, sometimes even preventing them from participating in activities like sleepovers or summer camp.
I created this infographic in a paper cutout style to appeal to parents with young children. The bright, welcoming color scheme invites viewers without creating a somber or judgmental atmosphere.
Iterative Process
Possible layouts were created using Procreate and Adobe Illustrator to explore creative, engaging ways to present data. Multiple options for layouts were proposed and discussed.
I used tableau to visualize data I sourced from journal articles and health associations. Tableau allows you to quickly change how data is represented and arranged, expediting the design process. The above example is the heat map visualization of proportions of allergic reactions occurring in places like the classroom and cafeteria. In the final version, the size ratio of boxes was retained and then restyled to appear like a school building blueprint.
